“May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,

May true be the hearts that love you.”

“The simplest pattern is the clearest.

Content with an ordinary life,

you can show all people the way

back to their own true nature.”

From the 65th Verse of the Tao Te Ching

Happiness is…

…Original Artwork.

There is something very life-affirming about original, hand-made art.

My husband and I recently acquired this etching, “Blossom”, by Phil Greenwood. We both absolutely love his work and this print in particular.

I hope the following photos will give you a sense of how beautiful it is.

It is approx. 100cm x 90cm (large!).

Choosing this picture together a few weeks ago and now having it in our home has been really positive experience for us individually and as a couple: full of affirmation of who we are and our future together.

More than just a picture! It feels prophetic.

The more I look at it, the more I hear it speak.

It’s very personal, not something I am able to articulate.

On a more pragmatic level I am just in awe of the skill and artistic talent that is required to produce this etching!

Copper-plate etching is a lengthy and involved process.

150 editions are created, plus a small number of Artist’s Proofs.

A few years ago I did a course in printmaking and I have just found a local studio where I can use a printing press

- a real treat for me: creative, relaxing, time-out!

I also find the whole arena of printmaking techniques fascinating!…

…Fresh Lilies. A friend bought these for another friend, but forgot to give them to her, so as she was going away on holiday herself, offered them to me. OK, so not the most heartfelt of gifts – but I am blessed. I can’t decide which room I like them in best, so they have moved all round the house!

The Beatitudes

DSC00103

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down.

His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them saying:

‘Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.’ “

Matthew 5:1-10

Meet Twinkle

Here is Twinkle – a much loved member of our family.

DSC00122

This morning Mae & Twinkle played highly original board games together whilst sipping espresso. The sunlight was a little too bright for Twinkle so he donned a pair of pink polka dot sunglasses and took shelter under his Dora the Explorer umbrella.

A Summer Prayer

DSC00043

May you breathe in the beauty of summer with its power of transformation. May this beauty permeate all that feels un-beautiful to you.

May the God of summer give us beauty.

May you seek and find places of repose during theses summer months. May these moments refresh and restore the tired places in you.

May the God of summer give us rest.

May you be open to times of celebration and recreation that are so much part of summer. May you find happiness in these times of play and leisure.

May the God of summer give us joy.

May you see the wonder in summer’s colours. May these colours delight you and entice you into contemplation and joy.

May the God of summer give us inner light.

May you feel the energy of summer rains penetrating thirsty gardens, golf courses and farm lands. May these rains remind you that your inner thirst needs quenching. May your inner self be refreshed, restored and renewed.

May the God of summer give us what we need for healing.

May you savour the fresh produce that comes to your table and enjoy the fruits of summer’s bounty.

May the God of summer give us a sense of satisfaction in the work of our hands.

May you find shelter when the stormy skies of summer threaten your safety.

May the God of summer give us shelter when our inner storms threaten our peace of mind and heart.

May you enjoy the unexpected and find surprises of beauty and happiness as you travel the roads on summer holiday.

May the God of summer lead us into amazing discoveries as we travel the inner roads of our soul.
